So I thought we'd start a little chat about Harry Potter. What do you guys think about it? Do you think it's the devil reincarnated? Do you think JKR is the AntiChrist only trying to ensnare little children into her web of evil? Or do you think it is a delightful book filled with plot and intruge? Share share share!

It's evil because she kills the cool people. But other then that, I had mentioned to someone, that even though it's not some insanely great literary masterpeice, it's nice to come home and read something simple and entertaining with a good story. Rather then A Tale of Two Cities, The Invisible Man, or 1984...which are required usually and get boring fast.

I agree it's much more enjoyable to read books which are entertaining and one choses to read then all the 'wonderful' things that our English teachers assign us. Who are your favorite characters? Mine are the Weasly twins and Luna Lovegood.

Really I hated five, four and six are my favorite. The reason I hated five was because through out the entire book Harry was moody and displaced his anger on his friends when he could have done something else. But hey that's Gryffindors for you right?
Whose your favorite Professor or class?

I like the ones where he gets hurt the most. But I'm just sadistic like that. My favorite professor is Snape, only because I would want to see if I could suck up to him. XD Thats what I do with all my teachers, so I wonder if it would work. Although he has that leglimins, or leslegims...., or whatever you call it(where he looks at your thoughts) My favorite class would be DAtDA because it seems to be the most practical.

I don't know if DADA is the most practical, I thought maybe Charms would be. Transfiguration is so weird. To quote somebody "Why would I want to turn a match into a needle? With a match I can light things on fire. Unless of course the occasion calls for poking somone's eye out. That must be it." My favorite professor would also be Snape, but I think it's because he's the only professor that we get a good look at. He's only misunderstood! ::crys:: Besides I'm in Slytherien he favors me.

Harry Potter ws developed far before the Da Vinci Code was even a gleam in Mr. Browns eye. It is not based on anything, but Ms. Rowlings imagination. The only thing that is even remotely based on something are the names. Albus Dumbledore is Latin for the White Bumblebee. Malfoy is French for Bad Faith. Argus is the Greek monster that had many eyes. And so on and so forth.

the thing is seeing that JKR used witches and stuff it already proves that he believes in the devil lol
but if you analyze the book deeply...you can see that relations exist with what is happening today in the past few years and such...such as voldemort is like communism and like the slytherians are people who believe in it....ravenclaw fairly believe in it.....and the hufflepuffs and that other one are for democratic and stuff
then you go on to the rest of the novel...and some parts of it you can relate...like when the 3 schools gathered, it's like the UN thingy
but literally...i think JKR only wants ppl to read...fantasy books draw children in...you can tell by how the book slowly becomes longer and longer

Ms. Rowling is a fantasitc writer. She wanted to develop a children's story for her kids and made the first book and had notes for everything on napkins and then she found someone to publish it. She was a poor single mother when all of this started. Now she has more money than the Queen of England.
What do you mean he believes in the devil?
Communism hasn't been a big issue since the 80s since the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union went bye bye. Voldermort symbolizes the ultimate evil in the world. The fear of people and change. He represents all the evil dictators in the world. And is afraid of dying the typical trait in a bad guy. I have no idea what you are talking about with the house thing. Slytherien's are clever, sly and ambitions it would not due for them to be involved in communism because in theory everyone is equal and they wish to advance themselves. Ravenclaws are book smart, and love to learn, they wouldn't see it as profitable because of the economic strain it puts on everyone. Hufflepuffs are loyal and hard working, so they would go with what ever the government gave them. Gryffindors are brave, bold, and the typical leaders in society. I believe what you are basicing this off would be the concept that people believe communism is evil (which it isn't the US used propaganda to make it seem like it was). People in the book believe with the sterotypes that Slytherien's are bad and Gryffindor's are good. But what about Peter Pettigrew and Severes Snape. People have been arguing that Snape is good for a long time, while Pettigrew is obviously a traitous slave for evil.

well think about it....if you think about religions...if you believe in witches, and such you believe in the devil get it? lol it's in the bible somewhere where you're only suppose to believe in god and everything else is the devil...kinda like the salem witch hunts too
communism isnt bad? what about vietnam, china, north korea, cuba, etc etc etc....it's kinda important...if you think about it.....you can analayze it as voldemort being that and the u.s. being harry potter and that old wizard as england/europe.
